چکیده

We have fabricated perovskite superlattices consisting of two ferromagnetic metallic oxides: La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 ~LCMO! and SrRuO3 ~SRO!. We have investigated the magnetotransport and magnetic properties of a series of samples, in which the layer thickness of LCMO is fixed and that of SRO varied from 0 to 20 unit cells. The magnetoresistance ratio in a superlattice can be increased by a factor of 3 at low temperatures over the MR ratio in pure LCMO film. This substantial enhancement is most likely caused by the interface spin-dependent scattering. The superlattice structure also increases Tc of LCMO by introducing a biaxial tension, and induces two consecutive switchings of magnetic easy axis direction with increasing SRO thickness. @S0163-1829~96!50430-3#

DOI: 10.1002/aelm.201500372 superlattices, in particular the (LaMnO3)m/ (SrMnO3)n system, has yielded important insights into the relationships between charge transfer, electronic structure, cation disorder, and magnetic ordering.[11–15] Ferroelectric superlattices have also received considerable attention,[16–18] with short-period superlattices emerging as a platform in which to realize improp...

We report the structural and magnetoelectrical properties of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3/BaTiO3 perovskite superlattices grown on (001)-oriented SrTiO3 by the pulsed laser deposition technique. Magnetic hysteresis loops together with temperature dependent magnetic properties exhibit well-defined coercivity and magnetic transition temperature (TC) ̃140 K. DC electrical studies of films show that the magnetor...

Enhancement of perpendicular and parallel giant magnetoresistance with the number of bilayers in FeÕCr superlattices

We have correlated a detailed quantitative structural analysis by x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and high spatial resolution electron energy-loss spectroscopy imaging, with the magnetization and anisotropic magnetotransport properties in sputtered Fe/Cr superlattices. To accomplish this, we developed a technique for magnetotransport measurements in metallic superlattices w...

Wannier-based definition of layer polarizations in perovskite superlattices.

In insulators, the method of Marzari and Vanderbilt [Phys. Rev. B 56, 12 847 (1997)] can be used to generate maximally localized Wannier functions whose centers are related to the electronic polarization. In the case of layered insulators, this approach can be adapted to provide a natural definition of the local polarization associated with each layer, based on the locations of the nuclear char...
